About me
To those whom I look forward to working with in the future, my name is Alexis Romagno, and I am an associate in education graduate who is eager to make a difference in students’ lives and within the school as a whole. I am a resourceful, caring, reliable, and creative teacher who connects with students by looking at the whole student, being a facilitator, guide, and mentor who encourages and supports not only their academic growth but their social and emotional growth as well. I believe these qualities are a great asset as a teacher and help me develop meaningful teacher-student relationships. I believe respect is another one of those important qualities that I am able to show others. For me, respect is admiration felt or shown for someone or something that you believe has good ideas or qualities. I show others respect by being an active listening when others are speaking, waiting for them to finish, and allowing myself thinking time before responding. I make sure to thank others and provide them with the appropriate appreciation when they offer me help or advice. Ways that my future colleagues, supervisors, and other faculty can show respect for me are by showing me respect and appreciation when it is appropriate, providing support and advice when it is needed, and reciprocating good active listening abilities. Some preferences and aspects that can be observed within my ideal classroom are flexibility within the lessons and activities I provide. Although I believe class time should be structured, when good work and communication are being done, I don’t believe that interrupting that does any good fr the classroom environment. Within my classroom there will be a well-organized and structured work area, materials, and furniture, but I believe that class rules should be a group decision and should make sense to the student. If that means rules and structures may need to be adjusted, then I believe that is perfectly fine. I am a teacher that relies on the intriguing qualities of my content to engage students, which means I also utilize strategies that require students to walk and move around the classroom and engage with it. Variety of songs, music, and videos that make content more meaningful and memorable. Due to using a variety of different strategies and intriguing content, I frequently adjust lessons in response to student reactions and responses, which helps make my content better and a more inclusive and informed learning experience. Since I utilize having intriguing content, I also find that humor plays a good role within the classroom. Humor that can be observed within my classroom is making content that is funny and silly; dressing and participating in school events that make the students laugh and show my silly side; and allowing silly and engaging topics that may be slightly off topic at times but promote a meaningful and connected classroom environment. In regard to the following qualities I have mentioned, I look forward to getting to know and work with the future colleges and faculty within the school. I am eager to learnmore about what preferences, abilities, and attributes my fellow teammates offer, and I hope to learn more about the school, the team, and resources and attributes I could adopt and utilize myself. I look forward to making it a good school year full of learning and growth
